I have met some of the best and some of the worst people on the golf course.
Just a couple of weeks ago I invited a new member at our club to join us for a 5-some since he was new and needed a game. I introduced him to the rest of the regulars I golf with and we were off. He seemed like a nice guy -- very polite, very friendly. Our high stakes bets were placed on the first tee (Skins - $1, no carryovers - yep, we are a bunch of high rollers). So we were off and walking on a nice sunny day and everything in the world was great... until the 3rd hole. This is when the new guy, first time on the course, handicap of around 15, hit a bad shot. I actually thought his head was going to explode and I would be scraping grey matter off of my new golf shirt. He was trying to tie the shaft of his club in a knot, punched the cart several times, dropped more "F" bombs in one minute than I had heard in months when I used to work construction. This went on for a grueling 4 hours and 15 holes. Naturally, he will not be invited back to join us.
Of course there is the other end of the scale. The other guys I golf with are great. They are much better then I am yet never lose patience with my high handicap game. A bad shot from any of us is more likely to elicit a smile and a joke than a display of anger. It's always a great walk playing golf and solving the world's problems followed by a round of cold beer and an exchange of the few dollars won or lost.
Now the new guy may look at this from the other side of the fence. We are not intently competitive, we don't look at putts from 4 angles before approaching the ball, we don't beat up defenseless golf carts or throw clubs, and we don't play for big money. Maybe his preference is to play with a more intense group of guys.
Never one to take sides (ok, the politically correct way of saying ‘how can I make sure I don't play with that guy again?'), we have come up with the Buddy List for On-Line Reservations.
Take a look:
With this new option turned on, from the On-Line Tee Times, the player can click on "Buddy Management" as circled below.
This will open a window with all of the players in the database listed. Naturally, this is geared toward private clubs. I think this would be great for public courses too but we need to think about showing the list of player names there. We will come up with something soon. To add to your personal Buddy List, you just Select from the Available Buddy list as shown below.

After selecting your Buddies, the screen will look something like the screen below. You then click on Back to Start Page.

Now I am going to book a tee time. Hint: there is also a new feature in here for multi-course facilities. I will do a separate newsletter on it but see if you can pick it out!

As it turns out, the East Course is not available until 9:04 a.m., so I am going to book the 8:08 a.m. time on the West Course.

Now the list of Player Names I can select from contains only “My Buddies”.

And, on the Tee Sheet in the Pro-Shop, each player
is listed on the reservation:

So you can Check-In these players to their respective Accounts. – Brilliant!
If you need anything, let us know.
Also, if you would like something specific covered in one of these Lessons, send the request my way.
It may cost you a free round of golf if I get out your way but you will probably end up taking a few dollars off of me on the course anyhow!
Thanks
